The Village Green build is proving to be a great way for patients to explore new skills.

September 17, 2021

Now that Gardeners’ World Live is behind us we are back doing sessions on the village green again. One patient in particular has spent the best part of 30 hours working on this project in all aspects from, measuring, cutting and bolting down etc.

The sleeper phase is not far off complete and we will then start to turn our attention to the paving and decking.

The goal for this particular patient is more focused around a purposeful activity rather than one specific clinical rehab goal.

The village green project serves as a mixture of physical and cognitive aims, including upper body strength, building stamina, following instructions and keeping a focus on the task in hand and to be able to process instructions but also in this case it is perfect for other members of the patients team to assess their abilities within a real life environment. This has also been a great way of exploring new skills and showing how their transferable skills could be used in a potential new career in the future.
