In 2019, thanks to funding from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund https://covenantfund.org.uk/ under their Positive Pathways programmes, we began the development of Rural Experience Weeks which are based on the Rural Weeks model established in 2014.

Whereas Rural Weeks are primarily focused on employment, Rural Experience Weeks are run at a much slower pace, which the focus being on wellbeing using the peaceful surroundings of Bicton College in Devon where HighGround has created a safe environment for individuals to gain the maximum benefit from their surroundings and each other.

Since the first Rural Experience Weeks, we are proud to have delivered specially commissioned weeks for Royal Marines young recruits, serving Royal Navy personnel and veterans under the VPPP programme.

In 2024 we will be delivering 4 Rural Experience weeks:

• in partnership with Supporting Wounded Veterans Transformational Change Programme  https://www.supportingwoundedveterans.com/
• for the RMA-The Royal Marines Charity https://rma-trmc.org/
• and a further week for the Royal Navy
