Meet the Team
Team HighGround is growing as our work develops and our profile both within the military community who we exist to serve, and outside it where our funders and supporters are keeps on rising. None of what we do for our Country’s serving personnel and veterans would be possible without the precious time and expertise which everyone at Team HighGround gives so willingly.
HighGround is governed by a Board of Trustees. Our Chairman of Trustees is Air Commodore (rtd) Ian Elliott OBE BSc RAF.
Anna Baker Cresswell, Founder and Development Director is responsible for the organisational strategy co-ordinating and all fund-raising. As a proud Northumbrian, Anna has spent the last decade working in the military charity sector.
She brought Horticultural Therapy to the military in the UK when she started Gardening Leave in memory of her Mother in 2007, and has subsequently started another charity HighGround to build on the lessons of Gardening Leave by helping those who have served, to find jobs they like and enjoy in the outdoors, predominantly the land-based sector.
A brief flirtation reading Philosophy and History of Art at UCL was followed by years of working in racing and polo in Australia and the UK.
Anna studied Social & Therapeutic Horticulture at Coventry University before starting Gardening Leave in 2007.
She enjoys all aspects of rural life and is dedicated to establishing HighGround as the route to meaningful, peaceful lives for those who have served their Country.
Thanks to the generosity of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, Eunice Learmont and Julian Sayers have joined us as Communications Co-ordinator and Ops, Outreach and Liaison respectively. We welcome them both as HighGround starts yet another chapter in our short but hectic story as we help Service Leavers and Veterans with Life beyond the military – Outdoors.
