Horticultural Therapist at Stanford Hall

I qualified as an Occupational Therapist from Coventry University in 2003, then moved to the East Midlands for my first job and have never left the area. My clinical career has been based in acute NHS hospitals in the region, working variously across stroke, vascular, prosthetics, burns & plastics and orthopaedics. Over the past decade I have specialised in splinting & bracing and upper limb rehabilitation.

I started gardening as a child and wherever I am based will always seek out space to grow and nurture plants either indoors or out. The pandemic forced us all to re-evaluate our social interactions and access to outdoor spaces, which changed my perspectives on health, wellbeing and rehabilitation. In 2021 I started an RHS level II in horticulture and started considering opportunities to combine my clinical skills as an OT, with my love of growing. Having completed the course this year, I am looking forward to joining the HighGround team providing Horticultural Therapy to service personnel at Stanford Hall.
