Horticultural Therapy at Headley Court – the first three years
Thanks to generous funding from the Westminster Foundation and the Soldiers’ Charity we started a pilot at Headley Court in February 2014 to test the benefits of Horticultural Therapy (HT) as a rehab intervention for injured Service personnel.
We recruited Carol Sales as our first Horticultural Therapist and a year later she was joined by Gina, her assistant. As the HT service got business and busier we were granted permission by the Commanding Officer to recruit a small team of dedicated Gardening Volunteers to keep the therapeutic environment up to scratch, and enable Carol to focus on her patients.
