In the month of the Battle of Trafalgar, Chris walks for the Royal Navy, past and present.

October 05, 2020

My walk in October will be dedicated to the Royal Navy past, present and future.

The 21st October is Trafalgar Day which is a special historic day in the Royal Navy’s calendar. In more recent times 13/14 October marks the sinking of HMS Royal Oak in Scapa Flow in 1939 with the loss of 833 lives.

As well as honouring the Royal Navy of the past, I wish to look to those serving with the Royal Navy at present and, in particular, those coming to the end of their career and  looking for a new adventure. This is how HighGround helped Bob, who served for 12 years in the Royal Navy as a Communications Analyst and then worked in investment banking in the Far East.

He recently returned to the UK and approached the White Ensign Association for some employment support.

They referred him to HighGround and at the end of September ‘s Rural Week he made the following comment:

“Rural Weeks are an absolute must for anybody wishing to pursue a career in the land-based sector as it will almost definitely provide you with ideas and information you have not yet thought of.

Furthermore it provides a plethora of contacts to help with networking.”
