Our second Rural Week of the autumn programme at Bicton College was a hectic one, even by our standards..!

We were joined by 7 HighGrounders (3 still serving) including Bhadra our first Gurkha, and Pete Boorn was our Course Manager and Eunice also helped while I was away.

I dashed off to Leicestershire on Monday to join Ian our Chairman and the Board of Trustees for a reception at Whatton House by kind permission of Lord and Lady Crawshaw, to thank everyone who helped us with our transition from Headley Court to Stanford Hall and launch the Friends of HighGround.

We had a lovely evening, and on Wednesday I whizzed back to Devon to welcome Sybil Ruscoe and Emma Campbell from Radio 4’s On Your Farm programme to Bicton to record a programme which was broadcast on Remembrance Sunday.

In between all the excitement, Chris Shepherd had organised another excellent week of presentations and visits and we thank Debbie from South Yeo Farm West, John Wilding from Clinton Devon Estates, Aaron from the RSPB, Rob from Devon Riding, Glendale Services, Hi-Line, BASC, Sampson Hall and Dan, Nadine, Nick, Roger, Andy, Glen, Pete and Di, Terry and Ricki who shared their knowledge and experience so generously.

As always huge thank to everyone at Bicton who made the week work so well, and to the Sir Walter Raleigh in East Budleigh for our last night celebration.

My turn for Last Word this time – I just wanted to thank everyone who spoke so well and willingly when Sybil and Emma visited to interview us.

As a charity we rely entirely on grants and donations to continue our work and being on national radio is a really big deal as it gets our message out to so many new people; some who will benefit from our services, and some who will support us by making donations to help us to continue delivering Life beyond the military – Outdoors.
