Onwards & Upwards garden at Gardeners World Live travels on to Belvoir Flower Festival

June 19, 2019

Andy Tudbury of Halcyon Garden Design designed a garden at GWL which he called Onwards & Upwards to raise awareness of our Horticultural Therapy service at DMRC Stanford Hall.

This was Andy Tudbury’s tenth solo designed show garden at Gardener’s World Live and probably his largest and most adventurous build.

Andy says, ‘I wanted a design that will stand out, whilst addressing some of the major issues facing the trade at the moment, it is fairly low maintenance, and includes some recycled materials, maximising the available space and creating interest by utilising different levels, the pathway takes you through the edge of the birch stand and the wild meadow area and past the magnificent sculpture by Simon Probyn, which represents hope, re birth and a new beginning, the path then leads you ‘Onward & Upward’ to the recovery and leisure areas.

The garden highlights the benefits of Horticultural Therapy, pioneered by HighGround as a rehabilitation intervention for injured serving personnel.’

We are hugely grateful to everyone who has made this Garden possible; Trex by arbor deck, Harrowden Turf, Simon Probyn, Bennington metal furniture, Blue Pearl spas, Barcham Trees, Rowlawn, Marshalls and Readyhedge.

Most of the above will be included on the show garden at Belvoir Flower Festival which Andy Wright our Therapeutic Gardens Manager at DMRC Stanford Hall will be designing and building.

We are so grateful to Wincanton Distribution for moving the garden from the NEC after Gardeners World finished, and you can follow the progress of the garden here.
