New year, new beginnings

We have had a busy start to the New Year with plenty of patients to see and preparations to make for the year ahead and a new growing season. The greenhouse staging has had a fresh coat of paint, new seeds have been ordered, seed potatoes have been chitting ready for planting out, fruit trees have been pruned, raised beds cleared and the first seeds of the year have been sown.

Garden planning and design

We have patients who are new to gardening as well as more experienced gardeners. A willingness to learn and develop skills and knowledge is shared by both. This provides an ideal opportunity to engage with and support patients with garden planning and design. This could range from planning a new garden from scratch, to looking after an established garden to container growing. It’s a good way to spark interest, be creative and engage in a new hobby. There is nothing more rewarding and helpful for building confidence than seeing plans on paper come to life.

Adaptive Gardening Guides

The final touches are being made to a series of guides providing practical advice on different ways to continue gardening independently to signpost our patients to. This includes information on gardening techniques, equipment and self-management strategies. Hopefully this will prove to be a useful resource.
