First Farm Shop
We held our first plant sale at the Commanding Officer’s coffee morning where the wildflower seed bombs went down well. This was closely followed by our first Farm Shop of the year just after Easter. We had a wide variety of plants to sell and we did, but have plenty left so are hoping to host another Farm Shop next month. Some of our patients supported us with setting up and serving customers and all in all it was a success.
Wildflower seed bombs
Following on from the Trellis seminar last month I did a few sessions making wildflower seed bombs. This was a good opportunity to combine seasonal crafts with learning about seed propagation. It’s a good chance to work on manual dexterity but also sensation combining the clay with the seeds, compost and water. Getting creative by decorating the finished article with a tangible end-result presented in an egg box in time for Easter. Long-term having lots of wildflowers to look forward to after the seed bombs have been scattered. A great way to attract bees and butterflies to the environment too.
Army Central Fund
Andy has been busy building additional potting benches in the Greenhouse as part of therapeutic sessions to accommodate our ever-growing range of plants. The Village Green raised beds are finished, and we are hoping to fill them with topsoil soon so we can start planting them. We are so grateful to the Army Central Fund who generously funded our new raised beds and hope that they will come and visit us again soon.
ABF The Soldiers’ Charity
The Soldiers’ Charity have generously supported HighGround’s Horticultural Therapy service from the very beginning of our 3 year pilot at Headley Court to test the benefits of HT as a rehab intervention and it was great welcome Camilla to Stanford Hall to show her what we have been doing over the last 2 busy years of Covid-induced lockdown.
