Jamie after his Rural Week
Jamie joined us for a Rural Week in July and since then he has been busy exploring opportunities in the Land-based sector. Over the course of two months, he trained as a tree surgeon with Sawpod, a tree surgery company based in Andover, who were “really good training providers and very helpful when dealing with servicemen on resettlement,” according to Jamie.
Continuing in Amesbury, Jamie went on a two-week Civilian Work Attachment with a local tree surgery company and took a course in hedgelaying with the Blackdown Hills Hedgelaying Association.
Julian, our Ops, Outreach and Liaison officer, asked Jamie how he felt about civilian life after the Rural Week:
“I am definitely better prepared now for life after the Army and the week that I spent at Bicton really helped focus what I wanted to do when I left and how I was going to go about it. Also, the speakers that Anna booked have really helped with contacts and further information.”
We are happy to have played a part in Jamie’s progress, truly Life Beyond the Military – Outdoors, and will continue to offer our support in 2018.
