Inspiration meets opportunity – tree planting with Carma
December 21, 2022
What did you learn from this week?
Everything!
That the military banter is great and still the same even when you’ve been away from it for 22 years.
The outdoors is for me – always known this but now I have options and am excited about the future.
RAF veteran currently working in the NHS.
The course cemented my view that I am making the right decision at the right time. It also gave me a greater appreciation of the various and wide-ranging options within the land-based sector.
Serving RN Commodore.
This has been so important because so much of military resettlement is focused on big finance firms. It was so nice to feel I was among like-minded service leavers.
Army veteran, Captain.
I found the week very reassuring s there has been a lot of pressure to do something safe when I leave the Army. The course gave me the headspace to reflect as I was physically away from work. It really helped me to visualise another life.
Serving Army Captain.
Would you recommend this week to others?
Yes. Invaluable insight into the land-based sector but also the networking opportunities and wider conversations about resettlement and transition to a civilian career/lifestyle.
Serving RN Commander.
The opportunity to spend a week with like-minded service leavers has been invaluable. This has cleared my head and given me confidence. Absolutely the best resettlement course I’ve ever been on. Really detailed ‘deep’ conversations with service leavers about the challenges of leaving service life which were so validating.
Serving Army Captain.
Yes, the course was brilliant at sharing/demonstrating a look at life in the rural sector whilst allowing frank, honest and open engagement with experienced landowners, farmers and business people – absolutely invaluable.
Serving RN Lieutenant Commander.
How could this week be improved?
Having Chris who is non-forces was excellent. Had it been all former forces personnel it would have been easy for it to feel like being in the military again.
His civvy presence helped my transition out of the forces!
Serving RN Commander.
