Christmas 2017

December 19, 2017

We made it! What a busy HighGround year we have all had.

Our Rural Weeks programme moved to Bicton College in Devon in March, and thanks to the generosity of Anne Duchess of Westminster Charity, the Royal Marines Charity, Help4Heroes, Grenadier Guards Benevolent Fund, the RAF Benevolent Fund and Greenwich Hospital, we delivered 8 Rural Weeks in 2017 to 72 Service Leavers and Veterans including 1 Reservist.

2017

You can see the reports here but massive, massive thanks to everyone at Bicton and our wonderful outside presenters for making our Rural Weeks so successful and especially to the wonderful Chris Shepherd at Bicton, without whom they wouldn’t get beyond the planning stage….

Horticultural Therapy Success

At Headley Court Carol and her team have delivered in excess of 1,120 sessions of Horticultural Therapy to well over 300 patients, and a huge thank-you to everyone who works so tirelessly in the garden to keep the therapeutic environment which Carol and her team have created at Headley Court so special.

‘We’ve had another wonderful year at Headley Court, helping so many people deal with difficult situations. To everyone involved thank you for your help and support. Have a great Christmas and we look forward to continuing the good work in 2018!’- Carol Sales

Our little team at Horseferry Road has grown too, and special thanks to our wonderful and loyal volunteers Dionne, Kate and Brook who were joined during the year by Chris, Lillie, Mebs and Emma. We literally couldn’t exist without them or our wonderful book keeper Ruth…

Thanks to the generosity of the Company of Public Relations Practitioners we have engaged the services of SBT to co-ordinate our social media and website content to enable us to get our message across to a wider audience and build on the magnificent work done by Kathryn and Marcela our design and build whizzo’s – we have come a long way Ladies…

This year we welcomed Ian our new Chairman and you can read his new column here.

Looking Forward

We are all looking forward to an even busier 2018 as we move with Headley Court to the late Duke of Westminster’s magnificent legacy Stanford Hall and we re-start our Rural Weeks programme at Bicton in March.

But, before then, a massive thank you from me for all the time, effort, money and goodwill which so many people have lavished on our small but very punchy Charity as we drive our vision forwards. LIFE BEYOND THE MILITARY – OUTDOORS.
