Back

As we approach the end of first year at Stanford Hall we look back at our progress.

August 24, 2019

The Horticultural Therapy (HT) service at Stanford Hall is really finding its stride and Andy and Jane are now working to a timetable and delivering sessions of HT to patients – to think this time last year we were still packing up the garden at Headley Court..!

The seeds from Chelsea Physic Garden and the Heritage Seed Library and wonderful donations from Parkers Bulbs, Hortus Loci and many other friends, are all making themselves at home at Stanford Hall.

The Woodblocx raised beds are nearly finished (with a lot of help from our wonderful friends at the Army Central Fund, British Sugar, Severn Trent Services and Wincanton plc) and filling up rapidly with plants and flowers which Andy and Jane are growing with the patients.

The first Farm Shop was a great success, and the staff now know where to buy their veg and from next year flowers, all grown by the patients. The money raised  goes back into the kitty to pay for more seeds.

We are so grateful to our Gardening Volunteers whose help to keep all our therapeutic environments tidy is so critical to the smooth running of the HT service as it gets busier and busier – thank you All.

The compost bays are nearly finished, next stop HENS!!
