Running to Raise Money

March 08, 2014

David Steele is running the London Marathon to raise money for HighGround and British Exploring Society  – watch out Mo!! You can support him on JustGiving.com.

I am doing the Marathon to raise funds for two charities and my target is £6,000:

HighGround which supports veterans to find second careers in land-based industries.

The British Exploring Society which runs a number of expeditions for 16 – 25 year olds. They focus on a number of aspects and explore a range of destinations around the world

As a veteran myself, I am keen to help other veterans to find productive and satisfying work when they leave the service. HighGround, by running residential courses and providing continued support and advice helps them to do that.

I am also keen to support the development of young people and help them gain experience. When I was Commandant of The West Lowland Battalion of the Army Cadet Force, the British Exploring Society provided funds for a number of my young cadets to go on expeditions overseas and I strongly support the  Society’s aims and endeavours.

Although I have run a number of marathons, a place on the London event has eluded me and I wanted to do it before I hit my seventh decade – I will just make it.

Your support is really appreciated. To donate, please visit my JustGiving page.

Many thanks, David.
