With great sadness we share the news of Carol’s death on 3rd January.

Carol joined Team HighGround in February 2014 as the first Horticultural Therapist for the 3 year pilot at Headley Court to test the benefits of Horticultural Therapy as a rehab intervention for injured serving personnel.

Without Carol’s calm, quiet but steely drive, there would have been no Gardening Volunteers, no Farm Shop, no Chelsea Flower Show Gold Medal or hens, or Home Thoughts from Abroad Garden.

She featured in two books and was interviewed many times as she shared the simple joy of being outside in the garden.

Her contribution to HighGround’s work and the cause of Horticultural Therapy was recognised when she was nominated for a richly deserved British Empire Medal in the Queen’s New Year Honours.

We owe her so much, and she will never be forgotten.

Our deepest condolences to her husband Frank and all the family.
