Seb and Nick are setting off from Kent later this week on a 10,000-mile adventure of a lifetime to help support and raise funds for HighGround.

The trip to Ulan-Ude in Russia is part of the Mongol Rally, in which the rules state that cars should be completely unsuitable and have an engine no bigger than 1L. Our intrepid friends have selected to travel in an 18-year-old Fiat Punto, which they’ve named Virgil.

There’s no backup, no support and no set route; they’ll cross three mountain ranges, three deserts, enter nine different time zones and have 20 different countries stamped in their passports … assuming they don’t get lost en-route!

We’ll be following their exploits and updating you all via our website and social media. Their proposed itinerary is:
11 July – 0900 ferry to Calais from Dover
15/16 July – Launch Ceremony
17 July – Budapest
18 July – Bucharest
22 July – Istanbul
29/30 July – Baku, Azerbaijan (ferry to Turkmenbashi, Turkmenistan)
16 Aug – Cross in to Russia
26 Aug – Ulan-Bataar
28 Aug – Ulan-Ude / Finishing party
30 Aug – Fly home, no more annoying social media posts from The Hotsteppers !
