How We Are Funded
HighGround is a charity registered in England and Wales.
We raise 100% of our income from grant-making trusts and foundations and public donation. HighGround currently does not receive any statutory funding.
We are extremely grateful to everyone who has funded us during our first 3 hectic start-up years. From our Partners and Funders to generous donations by individuals including:
- donations in lieu of wedding presents,
- whip-rounds by dinner ladies,
- Facebook appeals, and
- fundraising events.
Every penny really has made a difference.
Looking ahead we have two main areas of focus for fund raising – Horticultural Therapy and our support for those who hope to find a career outdoors once they have completed their military service.
Following the success of our three year pilot for the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre’s patients at Headley Court Horticultural Therapy is now fully integrated into the range of rehab interventions.
HighGround must now raise £354,000 to fund the next three years of Horticultural Therapy. Which coincides with the move of the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre from Headley Court in Surrey to new purpose built state of the art facility at Stanford Hall in Nottingham.
HighGround have launched our Three Year HT Challenge to raise funds for Horticultural Therapy.
Transition to Employment
HighGround provides support to anyone who is or has served in the military hoping to pursue a career outdoors.
We run Rural Weeks, a residential programme which gives participants insight into the various careers on offer in the land-based sector.
We also provide support and guidance to those who need help finding the right course or work experience to help make the transition from military service to a career outdoors.
With the help of Nigel, Noah, Charity 28 and several other precious volunteers and advisors, we are building HighGround’s brand and scoping our new strategies and ideas – watch this space!!!
