How We Are Funded

HighGround is a charity registered in England and Wales.

We raise 100% of our income from grant-making trusts and foundations and public donation. HighGround currently does not receive any statutory funding.

We are hugely indebted to all those who contributed to the Horticultural Therapy Challenge which enabled us to make the transition from Headley Court to Stanford Hall:

Chetwode Trust
Swire Foundation
Wates
Dougie Dalzell Memorial Trust (DDMT)
Wax Chandlers Trust
Help4Heroes
Chancellor’s LIBOR fund
Robertson Ness Trust
Greenwich Hospital
Mrs Grant, and several other generous individuals.

We are nothing without our Partners and Funders who give so generously both financially and materially as we seek to deliver and develop our services for those we help.

The Friends of HighGround are becoming an important resource for us in many different ways including;

  • Donations in lieu of wedding presents,
  • Whip-rounds by dinner ladies,
  • Facebook appeals
  • Fundraising events.

You can sign up to receive the Friends quarterly newsletter here.

Every penny really has made a difference

Looking ahead we have two main areas of focus for fund raising: Horticultural Therapy, and our advice and support service to help service leavers and veterans to find jobs, careers and vocational occupation in the land-based sector with Rural Weeks at its core.

Horticultural Therapy

HighGround’s Board of Trustees is actively engaged in developing a sustainable funding stream to ensure the long-term future of the Horticultural Therapy service at DMRC Stanford Hall.

Transition to Employment

Our Rural Weeks are currently funded by the Service benevolent funds, the Armed Forces Covenant Trust and several generous grant-making trusts.

Going forwards we are developing a network of Corporate Champions who recognise the value those with military skills and experience bring to the workplace, and with their help our Rural Weeks programme will achieve long-term financial sustainability in return for providing skilled, motivated talented individuals who have chosen Life beyond the military – Outdoors.

Friends of HighGround

In order to widen the scope of HighGround’s fundraising effort, we launched the Friends of HighGround (FHG) at a reception at Whatton House in October. You can read more about the FHG here.

Overview

In order to ensure our Trustees are sending up to date information when they contact potential supporters and funders, we update our essential information on a quarterly basis. You can find previous and current Overview documents here.
